43 CHURCH STREET - TIME LINE
What We Know So Far (Jan 2011)
William and Nancy White bought 28 acres of land on the North side of Route 9 in July 1833 from Charles Parkman. A house was built (now known as the Maples Cottage) and the family moved in October 1833.
William died in 1848 at the age of 66
Nancy sold “Maples Cottage” in 1850
More research needs to be done, but 43 Church was most likely built between 1844 and 1848.
Nancy definitely occupied 43 Church in 1850 and possibly prior to 1850.
Nancy lived at 43 Church until her death in 1865.
William and Nancy White were grandparents to William Trowbridge Forbes and great-grandparents to Esther Forbes (Author of Johnny Tremain and Pulitzer Prize Winner)
